Blair Hains has a wide-range of communications, public relations and media relations experience across the healthcare spectrum.  He has had roles leading communications for one of the largest pharmaceutical brands, advising patient advocacy groups, working for the Minister of Health and Long Term Care in the Province of Ontario (Canada) and working for one of the world’s largest NGOs.

Blair currently works as Managing Partner for The Marketing Department (TMD) Worldwide where heprovides marketing communications counsel and strategy for a number of clients as diverse as a patient advocacy group to one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.  Prior to TMD, he was a VP at a mid-sized communications company in New York City where he provided his healthcare clients with proactive and reactive public relations strategies and tactics.

Blair has also led communications at AstraZeneca for Nexium, at the time, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical brands.  In this role, he developed communications strategies to ensure the brand was seen in an appropriate light.  Over the course of four years, Blair was the media spokesperson for the brand on both proactive and reactive basis, conducting countless interviews with publications across the globe.

Before coming to the U.S., Blair lived in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada.  There he was on the communications team of the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care during the SARS crisis in 2002.  In this role, he was also responsible for developing the Minister’s daily responsive communication strategy.

Immediately after graduating with his Master of Business Administration in Marketing, Blair went on a “business mission” for the Canadian Red Cross to assist Russian colleagues in Moscow.  There he developed a communications strategy for the Russian Red Cross and even conducted some interviews with Russian media!
