What is Digital Marketing?

Nov 17, 2021 | Marketing Strategy

Once known as website marketing or Internet marketing, digital marketing uses the Internet and all its various platforms to push prospects and clients to your website.

Using a series of tactics that increase traffic to your website, digital marketing is the most current item in your marketing tool. One increasingly successful tactic is Pay-Per-Click on Google Ads and Google Display Ads. Pay-Per-Click is a tactic used by top tier search engines like Google and Bing to get prospects/buyers to your website. Not only is it effective, but it is also a way to attract traffic to generate potential customers. Other forms of digital marketing include Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest ads, social media and, email newsletters.

Content Marketing

Then there is Content Marketing another digital marketing tactic. The Content Marketing Institute defines content marketing as a “technique of creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.” Content is any information of value to your audience on your website or on social media that facilitates a call-to-action. Regular blogging is one way to draw people to your website by creating and posting fresh content. You can also use videos, infographics, or dynamic content like an e-catalogue. Delving deeper into content marketing you will find the top three forms of content media platforms (the order varies with the “experts”) are: video, blog and Infographics.

SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) also plays a role in lead generation. SEO helps your target audience find you quickly on the Internet and easily learn what it is you have to offer. It recognizes your business as one that can potentially satisfy their needs.

People rarely land on a website for the first time and convert into a sale. They usually visit multiple websites, multiple times seeking more and different information. SEO can help you figure out the information your prospects are likely looking for and present it in a way that is easy to find, digest, and be useful — making it more likely you will get a sale.
